Who we are
Meet Megan and Kody Martin.
The couple behind the screen.
We met in 2018 after I rescued a litter of puppies. Kody decided to adopt one of the pups, and I also kept one. We thought it would be fun to get the pups together and have puppy playdates, and we became best friends, bonding over our dogs. A few months later, we decided to go on a real date, and the rest is history. We now have three Blue Heelers and two Red Heelers: Buoy, Bonnie, Odin, Freya, and Brina. We got married in 2021, and we both have a passion for helping small, local businesses thrive. We are both active in our local American Legion and serve as board members of the Sons and Auxiliary.
Up River Marketing was founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic with the goal of helping businesses bounce back and continue to grow in one of the toughest times for all entrepreneurs. Since then, we have helped numerous small businesses in Jefferson County and the surrounding areas.

Megan Martin
Megan Martin was born and raised in New Jersey, She moved to the 1000 Islands NY area in 2010. Megan has a passion for marketing and found a love for design along with helping others creatively sell and market themselves and their businesses.
Megan’s background ranges from being a hairdresser, deckhand, real estate agent, office manager, and marketing manager, to name just a few things. Megan enjoys learning new trades and understanding different careers. Through this, she has gained incredible experience and understanding of how to market through personality.
Megan works at DH Leonard Consulting as the Marketing and Training Manager, Owner of Up River Marketing, and is the board secretary for the Sackets Harbor American Legion Auxiliary.
Kody Martin
Kody Martin was born and raised in upstate New York, Sackets Harbor, precisely. Out of high school, Kody went to St. John Fisher College as a Sports Management Major, but in 2013, he decided to join the United States Marine Corps, where he really discovered his passion for leadership and serving. After two deployments to the Middle East and one four-and-a-half-year enlistment, Kody returned to the things he loves, matter of fact, the things most upstate New York residents love: family, the United States of America, history, hunting, and fishing.
Kody has since spent 7 years as a Department of Defense Firefighter at Fort Drum and has earned his Associate's Degree in Business Management and Fire Engineering. He is a board member of the Sackets Harbor American Legion Sons, and while he has enjoyed continuing his passion for serving, he has also enjoyed woodworking and spends much of his off-time working with fellow small business owners to accomplish their dreams.
Kody has always found inspiration in his parents' work ethic and, over the last five years, in his wife's desire to assist every small business owner they meet in marketing their talents.
